FROM MISSILES
TO MALLETS
I’ve spent a career in the high-stakes world of Navy Stringer Missiles and managing IT & Security. But after years of data points and digital firewalls, my hands were itching for something tangible.
The garage is my getaway. It’s where I trade the keyboard for the table saw to remember what a drill press feels like. I’m retraining the old skills, with my sights set on building legacy furniture and cabinets that stay upright long after the software updates stop.
CREATIVITY
UNLEASHED
Wendy’s journey is proof that the best paths aren’t straight lines. From Operations Manager to a stint in IT, she found her true spark in the creative side of business and never looked back.
Now, she’s turned the basement into a high-tech studio of sublimation, vinyl, and custom graphics. What started as a hobby spiraled into a full-fledged passion project that keeps us both asking: “What can we create next?”
REBUILT FROM THE ASHES
We’ve been best friends since we were 13 years old. Through failed marriages and the “ashes” of old chapters, we found our way back to each other over two decades ago.
Flameborn Designs is our fresh start. It’s the joy of working together, the thrill of the “Restart,” and the genuine pride in seeing a customer’s face when their vision becomes reality.
The Museum of Abandoned Hobbies
Before we landed on woodworking and sublimation, we tried… well, everything else. Here are a few of the “sparks” that didn’t quite make the Phoenix cut.
Sourdough Starter
Named him ‘Yeasty Boys.’ He became a sentient life form before we ever baked a loaf.
The Scarf Incident
Three inches of progress, 200 yards of tangled yarn, and one very annoyed cat.
Pro Puzzling
The 1,000-piece landscape that stayed on the table for 6 months. We moved before it finished.
String Art Mania
A lot of hammers, a lot of thread, and surprisingly few recognizable shapes.
* No hobbies were harmed in the making of this business. They just went to live on a farm upstate.
